Our SENCo, Sam, has 15 years experience working with young children. She has a degree in Early Years Development and has a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Children and Young People’s Speech, Language and Communication. Sam has also completed extensive training to support children with Autism with STARS such as Tier 1, 2 and 3 training, Visual Communication training, Intensive Interaction, Makaton and Lego Therapy. Our full Nursery team have range of training and experience in working with children with a variety of medical and developmental needs, including feeding and swallowing difficulties and gastrostomy feeding. Sam is very experienced in liaising with outside agencies, such as SEN Inclusion Team, Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists. The Nursery is able to claim EYFFI funding for children aged between 2 and 4 years old with additional needs who meet specific criteria to ensure their needs are fully met. Sam has also had experience in applying for and successfully completing the process of Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) Our Nursery funds an Independent Speech and Language Therapy company who work with identified children at least once per half term. We are a Scope accredited nursery and have our own intervention room/sensory room.
